Your bone and surrounding may be tender, sore and swollen after teeth removal and after the first stage implant post-surgery visit.

You can however go about your normal daily activities but should avoid strenuous exercises or activities for the first few days after surgery.

Recovery time after dental implant surgical procedure varies a lot depending on your general health, medical and dental history, state of jaw bone prior to dental surgery, number of implant placement and whether you required bone or gum grafting.

Depending on the situation, the recovery could take a few days to a few weeks. For most of the people, recovery time is only 24 to 48 hours. However, if you had more than one implant placement completed or if you have got bone grafting done or sinus lift done or split ridge treatment done for your bone augmentation procedures then recovery time will be a bit longer – in these cases the recovery time will be 1 to 2 weeks.

Factors that affect recovery time after dental implants.

There are several other factors that can fluctuate the time taken for your recovery after implant surgery. The factors that needs to be taken for considerations are –

• Your oral health and health of your jaw bones.
• Your age.
• Your medical conditions.
• Any medications you might be taking.
• Your lifestyle ( smoking can cause slow recovery ).
